To access your Commando Mail messages after March 1st 2016, please follow these updated steps.

Access Inbox: Send an email to <your-alias>@dnetguru.com from your original email address with the subject "INBOX".
Receive Messages: You will receive a reply containing all stored messages sent to your temporary email address.
Message Deletion: All retrieved messages will be immediately deleted after being sent to you, or they will automatically be deleted after 7 days, whichever comes first.

Alternatives

It has been more than a decade since I launched this service. Back in the age of IRC the idea of having an email bot which allows you to register an alias by just sending an email was very attractive. No signup, no bells and whistles, just exactly what you need to protect yourself. Today there are many web-based alternatives inluding Guerrilla Mail, MailDrop and Addy.io just to name a few. Some give you temporary email addresses (unlike this service) and others allow you to create long lived aliases (just like this service), which are usefual for signing up on random websites and still being able to recover your passwords etc. without getting a ton of spam.

These are generally more user friendly and easier to use. Given the fact that I had to shut down email forwarding (which was the most attractive feature) and the fact that there are many good alternatives available, I feel that this service has run its course. I won't be adding any new features or functionalities. With that being said, I plan to keep this service running for the forseeable future (or at least until it's no longer used by anybody).

Register: Send an email to <choose-your-alias>@dnetguru.com with the subject line "REGISTER". This alias can be any string of your choice, making your temporary email address uniquely yours.
The only restriction is that the alias can not be already in use by another user.
Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email at your original address, verifying that your temporary email is now active and ready to use.
~~Receive Emails:~~ ~~Any emails sent to your <choose-your-alias>@dnetguru.com address will now be automatically forwarded to your original email address, keeping your real email hidden from the sender.~~
Privacy Control: You have full control over your temporary email. If you ever decide to stop receiving emails for any reason or change your alias, simply send another email with the subject "UNREGISTER" from your original address, and the forwarding will cease.

Recent Updates

Cloudflare Migration

I'm bringing this service in the 21st century by re-implementing the functionality via CloudFlare workers. This does not add any features however, this migration would eliminate the cost of running this service almost entirely.

The re-implentation means that all stored emails would be lost (a one time purge) in order to make the migration possible.

All active users with unread emails will recieve a one-time alert via email before this purge.

New Domain Registrar

Due to Google Domains sunsetting their service, the domain used for this service will be transferred to a new registrar soon. This might cause temporary disruption in email delivery. This disruption should not last longer than 3 days.

All active users will recieve email updates (no spamming, just two emails) before and after this migration.
